Admissions Learn How to Get Started

What happens after I call The Good Life? If you’re asking yourself that question – you’re in the right place! Seeking treatment for yourself or your loved one is an often-scary process. It takes a level of determination and commitment to even make the initial call…but what happens after that? That’s what we’re here to answer.

Rehab Admissions

Rehab Admissions Process

Seeking professional help for yourself or a loved one’s a fraught and difficult process. It’s full of uncertainty, false steps, resentment, and often anger. We think there’s a better way. We think that entering a treatment program shouldn’t be as difficult as many facilities make it. We think your rehab admissions process should be an exercise in compassion and the start of your family’s healing. For that reason, find detailed information on our admission process below. It can, broadly speaking, be broken down into three distinct stages. There’s initial contact, traveling and intake to The Good Life, and starting treatment itself.

Your Initial Call

The first step to being admitted to The Good Life is picking up your phone and making the call. While this is often incredibly difficult – families sometimes describe the phone as weighing 1,000 pounds – it’s a tangible action of reaching out for help.

We operate a 24/7 recovery helpline. You can call at any hour of the day or night and reach an experienced recovery professional who can answer any questions you have and guide you through our program.

During the call, we’ll gather information about you, your family, the primary substance abuser, their history, and more. We’ll also take your insurance information and make sure you’re covered for treatment.

Getting to the Good Life & Intake

After you make the initial call and we verify your insurance, the admission process really begins. We’re talking about traveling to The Good Life. Getting to treatment is an overwhelming experience for anyone. If you or your loved one live out-of-state, it’s a complicated series of flights, staying away from airport bars, and being picked up by our drivers.

Rest assured, we’ll be with you during the entire process. Once you land in Florida, we’ll have a discreet driver pick you or your loved one up from the airport. No one will know they’re from a treatment center. They’ll then take you directly to our clinical offices or campus.

When you get to The Good Life, you’ll start the intake process. This consists of:

Following the intake process, either directly or the next morning, you or your loved one will start our treatment program.

Starting Treatment After Admissions

A first step in our continuum of care is getting an initial psychiatric assessment. This is done by one of our experienced doctors. Following your assessment, you’ll receive a primary therapist. You’ll also undergo a complete biopsychosocial during the first few days of treatment. While this sounds intense and sometimes even scary – it isn’t. It’s simply a test that gives our clinical team an idea of the areas to focus on during the course of your treatment.

This psychiatric assessment, paired with the biopsychosocial test, give us the framework to create your individualized treatment plan. Following you or your loved one’s assessment, you’ll be introduced to our community. To ease your acclimatization to the program, we sometimes use a buddy system. This is when an older, more experienced member of our community is paired with you or your loved one.

Then your treatment – individual therapy, group therapy, informal workshops, wellness activities, educational lectures, community living, and more – begins in earnest.

It’s a lot to take in all at once, we know! If you remember only one piece of information, remember this – recovery is possible and within your grasp.

If you have any questions about our rehab admission process, or anything else for that matter, don’t hesitate to give us a call today at (561) 250-8552!
